Dec. 5, 2019 | The newest addition to our uniform is undergoing testing by our Student Life Committee.

In the spring of 2018, we shared about a student-led project to introduce pants into the official girls uniform. One year later, the Student Life Committee showcased the addition of shorts to our clothing collection. Now the committee is bringing their fashion-forward attitudes to our torsos as they test out long-sleeved polos. The group has been modelling the first sample of polos around campus to gauge student opinion and determine how to improve the design before our Supply Shop makes the first official order.

Citing convenience as the inspiration for the addition, Evan explained that the oxford and tie combination in the winter uniform can sometimes be cumbersome to put on and makes outfit changes time-consuming, particularly around Physical Education classes. During today's meeting in the Conference Room at lunch, the group discussed the feedback they had received from students. Zofia expressed that despite wearing an extra-large top, she received positive comments from her peers and was impressed at how comfortable the material was. There was a general consensus that the final design should be tailored slightly under the arm for a cleaner fit.

The group hopes to focus their energy on finalizing the design quickly so that students will be able to add it to their wardrobes before the warmer weather arrives. Once this process has been finalized, the committee will continue pursuing the plethora of other initiatives they hope to work on this year, including the introduction of student ombudsmen to improve peer support on campus.
