Naughty or ice

Dec. 18, 2019 | Memorial Arena was busy over lunch today as students took a break from studying.

Our regular class schedule came to an end on Monday and Moulton Hill has changed gears into exam mode. While these last few days before the break are always an academic challenge, our staff and students are doing their best to keep each other mentally and physically healthy. Ms. Magwood has been encouraging active breaks from intense study sessions by opening up the arena over lunch this week. "We try to open the rink to students as much as we can during the year," she expressed. "They're always eager to get on the ice and this seemed like the perfect time." Today's lunch session saw over 30 students sharing the ice, with players from our elite hockey teams practising their slapshots alongside less experienced students who were more focussed on staying upright.

The success of this week's open ice time during exams is inspiring our Athletics Department to make this a regular occurrence. They also hope to find more supervisors allowing them to open the rink to students more often throughout the year.
