Present day

Dec. 19, 2019 | Over the past few weeks, a team of students and staff have been collecting gifts and cash donations to brighten Christmas morning for a few members of our community.

The project was made possible in partnership with the Lennoxville District Women's Centre and sought to fulfill the Christmas wishlists of four local children. Taking up the challenge after an announcement in chapel, students overwhelmingly got onboard with the initiative, purchasing more gifts than the lists requested within the first weekend. Donations were also accepted with the goal of funding the purchase of warm winter clothes for those in need. In total, the group raised $380 in addition to the gifts. Form VII student Violetta was one of the prefects involved in the project, sharing that "it was a great opportunity to participate in something beyond BCS and get involved in our community." She was also sure to mention the contributions of Anouk, who volunteered her time to help the prefects out during the busy exam season.

We strive to encourage community involvement and philanthropic action at BCS with campus-wide projects like our bunny-gram fundraiser or our Thanksgiving food drive. It's also not uncommon for students to take up the charge themselves, planning cancer research fundraisers or supporting refugees across the world. We're glad to be part of such a generous community!
