The myrrh the merrier
Dec. 20, 2019 | St. Martin's Chapel was packed and spirited as we came together for A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols.
Students, parents, staff, faculty, alumni, and friends filled our festively decorated chapel for an annual holiday tradition yesterday. Officiated by Reverend Heather Thomson, the ceremony was full of traditional hymns and seasonal songs punctuated by readings in eight different languages. Under Mrs. Carey's direction, Annie, Pihla, Flora, Thuy Duong, Mary, Cala, Paula, and Malcolm each read lessons in their native tongues. Throughout the evening, several students performed solos, including Diana who sang 'Once in Royal David's City' and Metta with 'In the Bleak Midwinter.' Justine also contributed to the evening's musical renditions on the flute and Mulan played 'When Christmas Comes to Town' on the piano. This year's choir was made up of students and community members and directed by Mr. Obermeir and Mme Simard. A special addition to the evening was the singing of 'The Ballet of the Wind' in Mandarin by Angel, Jieni, Laura, Mulan, and Selina. After the ceremony, we rejoined in Ross Hall for refreshments before saying our goodbyes. For those unable to attend the event, highlights can be found on our Instagram story
As 2019 comes to a close, we're incredibly thankful for this talented, generous, thoughtful, and caring community we call the BCS family. Happy Holidays from Moulton Hill! We can't wait to see all our students again in the new year.
