Jan 14, 2020 | Students in English Language Arts are eager to share one of their latest projects: descriptive poetry through film.
Beginning in November and lasting a little over a month, the descriptive poetry project in Ms. Jones' class has been a hit. Students were tasked with sharing about their deepest interests, first through traditional written word, then performed orally, and finally as a fully edited video. Many chose to centre the project around their athletic pursuits, sharing their passions for gymnastics, swimming, hockey, dance, and much more. "I wanted them to take something they're passionate about and use video as their outlet to share that with others," explained Ms. Jones about the project. She encouraged students to make creative use of couplet structure or intonation to help them express their theme more effectively. Sacha shared that after finishing the project, he had gained a new appreciation for the time required to edit a video. Remi agreed with the sentiment, indicating that it took him a few days to complete the assignment. We're excited to share the fruits of their labour below!
