Jan 20, 2020 | Our chapel attendants were spellbound on Friday as our 2020 Carnival Committee announced this year's theme.
After many weeks of debate and planning, our team of Carnival organizers finally shared what they've been up to with the rest of the school. The Harry Potter-themed week of February festivities bears the name 'Carnivallarmus,' inspired by the popular 'expelliarmus' spell. "The students liked the name because much like the spell, Carnival is a time to be 'disarmed,' to let down your guard and have a good time," explained Mr. Wong, our Activities Coordinator. The group spent over a week preparing the announcement skit in their spare time while working with an ever-changing script and an enthusiastic Mr. Wong, self-described as "having no idea how to direct theatre." Their hard work paid off on Friday with plenty of laughter emanating from chapel as Mr. Nadeau scolded a gown-clad student for forgetting to bring his broom to gym class. The carnival is sure to entice with a schedule including quidditch, orb-kicking (snow soccer), magic broomball, and the always popular themed ice dancing competition.
We hope you're Siriusly excited for this year's Carnival because we sure are!
