Rat on time

Jan. 27, 2020 | On Friday we joined Bishop's University students in celebrating Lunar New Year.
With students hailing from around the globe, we have a wealth of cultural experiences to share with each other. Despite doing our best to recognize as many traditions as possible, we're often not able to organize school-wide celebrations as frequently as we would like. Our past Lunar New Year celebrations have been marked by decorations in the chapel and delicious Asian cuisine from our kitchen staff. This year, when a few students approached staff members with suggestions for a more inclusive celebration, our Alumni Department embraced the opportunity wholeheartedly. Friday's festivities were held across the river on the Bishop's University campus where both our student bodies joined together to drink hot chocolate, watch a fireworks display, and experience the tradition together. Manager of Student Life at Bishop's University, Annick Corbeille, and Dean of Student Affairs, Stine Linden Andersen, represented the university at the event, sharing a few words about Lunar New Year and the countries around the world that celebrate it.

As we enter the Year of the Rat together, we're proud to be part of such a diverse community and we're excited to keep discovering new traditions and new reasons to celebrate with each other!
