Ready, set, block!

Jan. 28, 2020 | Our volleyball crease is serving up some tough competition today!

Celebrating its third year on the winter athletic schedule, our Girls Volleyball crease is enjoying some healthy competition this year. What began as a student-led initiative has grown into a key part of winter sports on Moulton Hill. While the team is still working towards its official competitive status within the local league, the girls are getting plenty of time on the court through exhibition games with Stanstead College. Our neighbouring school from the south began their volleyball team just one year after our own and our students have enjoyed the opportunity for some local games. In fact, discussions are afoot regarding the joint creation of a trophy honouring the students who reintroduced the sport at both schools.

Our team has often been composed of senior students and this year's players have a background in the sport, which the coaches hope will give our school an edge this season. Spirits are high going into this afternoon's game following the team's win against Stanstead on January 17. Asked about their priorities during recent practices, Mr. Gordon maintained that "it's very much a mental game. Negativity shows up on the court, and consistently staying positive and upbeat helps them excel."

We're glad to have coaches who focus on mental health, particularly leading into Bell Let's Talk day tomorrow!
