Feb. 5, 2020 | Our curling team kept their cool on the ice today as they took on Alexander Galt Regional High School.
In their final home game of the season, four of our curlers threw stones on our home ice in Lennoxville. The team is coming off a 7-6 win against Stanstead College last week and has been growing stronger both in their athletic skills and their decision-making on the ice. While Alperen, John, and Willa have previous experience with the sport, Aruto has only been playing since the beginning of the season. Despite being a newcomer, his performance during today's games demonstrated a strong talent. Since coaches are required to be off the ice for most of the game, all the players have been developing autonomy and improving their strategic decision-making skills. "It's amazing to see these students, particularly our skip, step up as leaders," noted Mr. Courchesne as our students showed confidence in their calls today. The challengers from Alexander Galt recently returned from winning gold at the Quebec Circuit and although our team didn't manage to clinch the win this afternoon, their improved skills were clear as they closed the gap in their score.
Best of luck to our team in their last regular game of the season against Richmond before they head into the playoffs in the next few weeks!
