Study swap

Feb. 6, 2020 | We're excited to welcome our first exchange student of the year!

As part of our membership with Round Square, we often have the opportunity to send students to partnering schools or welcome students from abroad to our home on Moulton Hill. Since the end of January, we've had the pleasure of hosting Eva from Windermere School in England as she studies with our students and experiences life in Canada for one month. In two weeks' time, she and Priscilla will be heading back across the Atlantic as Priscilla begins her own exchange. Form IV student Liam is also away from BCS as he attends Birklehof Schule in Germany. "It's a really impactful cultural experience for our students," shared Mrs. Bray, our International Coordinator with Round Square. "They gain independence, develop as global citizens, and build connections that will last a lifetime." Our final exchange student of the year will be joining us from Germany in April and we're already working to coordinate more students from Australia in the fall.

While the program has been popular with our younger students, Mrs. Bray hopes to develop more exchange opportunities for our senior students now that the IB Diploma Programme has been implemented at BCS. With students being able to stay ahead of their workloads at IB schools around the world, we look forward to building an even stronger internationally-minded community!
