Above the influence

Feb. 13, 2020 | Tackling the topic of substance abuse, former NFL offensive lineman Alvin Powell engaged students in a challenging conversation today.
Our morning chapel assembly was punctuated with laughs, shouts, and earnest introspection this morning as Alvin Powell shared about his struggles with drug addiction. Weaving together the story of his life from his successes with the Seattle Seahawks and the Miami Dolphins to his struggles with cocaine and thoughts of suicide, he encouraged students with a powerful message about the dangers of drug use. During the day, Mr. Powell was on hand to meet with students individually to answer their questions about drug use and provide them with resources through his Saving Station Foundation.

We're thankful for the opportunity to host Mr. Powell and share his important message with our students.
