Sounds of spring
Mar. 12, 2020 | Our young musicians put on a stunning performance yesterday afternoon to welcome our community into spring.
Evan took over for Mr. Obermeir during the first pieces, directing the Junior Band in their performances of "Dervish" and "Power Rock." The Senior Band followed with performances of "Wonders of the Universe" and "Acclamations" both directed by Mr. O's practicum student from neighbouring Bishop's University, Ms. Skye Stowe. They capped off the first half of the afternoon with "Don't Fear the Reaper" and "Marche Slave." After a short intermission, the Choir sang "Hey Jude" by the Beatles. Pihla and Mulan lent their musical talents to "Can't Help Falling in Love" with Pihla performing a violin solo and Mulan accompanying on the piano. Sheldon and Evan performed solos for Le Choriste's "Vois sur ton chemin," Coco and Diana sang Rihanna's "Diamonds," Metta and Maeve sang "Hallelujah," and Kenneth capped of the solos with a performance of "Fly Me to the Moon" by Frank Sinatra accompanied by Ms. Stowe on the trumpet.
Our Jazz Band closed out the show with performances of "Come Together," a piece requested by drummer Leo due to the intricacies of the drum solo, "Take the A Train," and "Seven Nation Army." We were lucky to have our Senior School Coordinator, Amber Rommens'
son, Quade, join on the drums.
Congratulations to all our talented musicians, our heads of choir Coco and Maeve, Mr. O, Mme Simard, and Ms. Stowe for their hard work. To see clips from yesterday's show, check out our Instagram
