Where the heart is
Apr. 17, 2020 | The first virtual house meeting was a resounding success for the girls of Glass House.
Late last week, 32 of our Glass girls met online to maintain the sense of community that's so central to the BCS experience. During the Google Meet session, students and houseparents caught up on the latest news from Moulton Hill and the girls' homes around the world. Ms. Lowry was sure to share with her house that despite physical distances, she is available to support them with their academics, to get items from their dorm rooms, or to simply lend an ear. While the meeting was cut short after an hour together, Ms. Lowry shared that she was sure the conversations could have continued far into the afternoon.
Each of our houses is adapting differently as our houseparents continue to support their residents from a distance. Williams House, Mitchell Family House, and Glass House have all encouraged engagement through selfie challenges. Grier South has been posting updates, photos, and birthday wishes on their portal page. Gillard House has promised to "continue to GET ROWDY" with weekly virtual house check-ins and other residences are continuing to support their community through regular emails.
We look forward to seeing all the creative ways our residence teams preserve the bonds built on campus as we close out the academic year online together.
