Pride around the world

Apr. 28, 2020 | Maintaining an important facet of our co-curricular activities, the BCS Pride Alliance met virtually late last week.

Over the course of the meeting, the conversation flowed from discussions about the use of the rainbow as a symbol of hope in Quebec, thoughts on an inspiring TED Talk shared by a student, and updates from each student as they adapt to academic and social changes. With some of the students living beyond Canadian borders, they also took the opportunity to share the realities facing the LGBTQ+ community in their home countries. Several of the graduating students looked to the year ahead, sharing about their plans for university and the pride groups at their future alma maters. The topic of conversation finally returned to BCS as the group discussed how our community can make improvements related to gendered language and pronoun usage.

We look forward to a time when the Pride Alliance and all our clubs can again meet face-to-face and continue to unite our community on the subjects and interests we each hold dear.
