Minds over matter

May 26, 2020 | Three of our students have been recognized for their high calibre comprehension of chemistry!
Last year, our Science Department broke new ground when Daniel Yin, BCS'19, placed second in the Canadian Chemistry Contest within the Estrie and Montérégie districts. Students in the top 10% of their class are eligible to participate in the contest, which takes place every spring in the form of a voluntary exam. While Daniel was the first in recent memory to earn such an award, this year's contest saw all three of the top spots province-wide claimed by our Bears. Alfonso, Violetta, and Ritchie, all students in our IB Chemistry HL class, earned first, second, and third place respectively. "I definitely feel like my course work at BCS prepared me for the contest since we had covered almost everything that came on the test," Alfonso shared. Violetta echoed his thoughts that the high-level class' curriculum leading up to her IB exams prepared her for the contest. Dealing with the challenge of finishing her courses away from campus, she added that "the most difficult part was definitely putting my brain back into 'school mode' after not having done chemistry for many weeks!"

We're so proud of our students for their achievement!
