Grand total: Nepal earthquakes fundraiser

June 9, 2015 | This morning in Chapel, Mr. Nadeau's From III (grade 8) Ethics class came forward to present a cheque for $6030.40 to the Nepal Region Earthquake Fund (Canadian Red Cross).

The federal government has promised to match the funds, doubling the impact! Journalist Matthew McCulley (above left) from the Sherbrooke Record newspaper joined us to report on the progress these students have made. After Chapel, Matthew sat down with four students, Jessica, Frida, Maria Fernanda, and Javier, for an interview – asking them about how they raised the money and how it made them feel.

The Canadian Red Cross will use the funds to distribute emergency relief supplies, provide medical supplies and support, and help assess and respond to the needs of communities. Learn more about their efforts or donate online.

We're a small school of 240 students so it's impressive to see the results we can achieve through hard work and dedication. Congratulations to everyone at BCS and thank you to Mr. Nadeau and Form III ethics for getting everything organized.
