Chemistry explosions!?

Nov. 19, 2015 | During chemistry class today, Form VI students touched on stoichiometry, gas laws and reaction rates while doing a fun experiment.

Armed with Ziploc bags, and a mixture of hydrochloric acid and baking soda, Form VI scientists spent the afternoon trying to figure out why the volume of their concoction was greater than the one of their plastic bag. And on top of that, how did the mixture fit into the bag without it exploding? To know the answer, you will have to ask one of the students in Mr. Madsen's class who managed to solve the puzzle!
