At BCS, the health, safety, and well-being of our community is always our top priority. We are currently monitoring the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) situation carefully and collaborating with our local health authorities. We are looking to our local, provincial, and federal government for recommendations and guidance, and following their directions to ensure our systems and protocols are of the highest-possible level of safety and protection.
At this time we have not cancelled our Summer Camp and our team is still hard at work preparing programming and activities for our campers. Given the rapidly evolving situation, we will continue to monitor and reassess the situation as required, and we will keep our participating families updated as the situation develops and we determine how to proceed. In the meantime, We encourage you to monitor the COVID-19 section of our website for important information and updates.
Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions.

Adventure awaits at our four-week immersive summer camp

June 28 - July 25, 2020

Summer 2020 marks the 59th edition of our camp program and we’re delighted to announce the addition of a third option to our current language offerings: Tech Creations. Learn 3D Printing, Minecraft, Mobile App Development, and Photography and Filmmaking in a fun environment! This month-long program is for students 11 to 16 looking to expand their knowledge and comfort zone in one of the fastest-growing industries.

Have a passion for languages? Learn English or French as a second language during our month-long immersive ESL & FSL Language Camp for students aged 11 to 16.

Both the English as a Second Language and the French as a Second Language curricula offer instruction at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. Each level includes oral and written work and offers a solid base for work in grammar and conversation. In general, the emphasis is placed on an improvement in spoken French and English but appropriate supplementary study is given to reading, writing, and comprehension skills.

ESL and FSL classes usually consist of 10 to 12 students. Classes are held six mornings and four evenings a week. Placement tests are administered at the beginning of camp and class tests are given on a regular basis. Reports are made to parents at the conclusion of the month.
I learned more in one month at the BCS Summer Language Camp than I did in a year at my regular school. - Elizabeth (Quebec, Canada)

Tech Creations

The Tech Creations program is comprised of four courses. Each course is one week-long and concludes with in-class presentations of their creations by the students before moving on to the next course. Classes will consist of no more than 10 students.

3D Modelling & Printing
Discover the rapidly expanding world of 3D!
In this course, you’ll discover how to create intricate 3D models and design moving parts powered by a motor. You’ll gain comprehensive knowledge of the printing process from start to finish while learning proper operation, maintenance, and safety procedures. Stand back and observe as your print takes shape, layer-by-layer, then connect your self-designed motor and watch your creations spring to life!
Film & Photography
Develop your own style of seeing and shooting the world at a professional level!
Working with an experienced photographer, industry professionals, and your fellow classmates, you will develop new ways of looking at the same image while learning a wide variety of technical and artistic approaches. Get behind the camera, learning the craft of photography or film through a combination of in-class instruction and individual course assignments. Over the course of the camp, you’ll learn how to capture many different genres, including commercial, fine art, photojournalism, and much more.
Coding through Minecraft
Learn computer programming through MinecraftEDU, the educational version of the popular game!
Get an introduction to programming through Minecraft Modding with Java. Minecraft’s open architecture allows you to access its Java source code to create just about anything you can imagine. While modding with Java, you’ll learn how to create your own custom pickaxes, your own enemies, even your own dimensions. Use Java coding to give your creations special properties and then try them out within the game itself!

Mobile App Development
Create your own mobile application!
Using Google’s newest mobile app platform, Flutter, you’ll learn how to develop your own mobile application. Flutter is a coding platform that allows for both Android and iOS functionality and is based on the programming languages C, C++, and Dart. Take your app home with you at the end of camp and keep modifying its functionality as you continue to develop your skills.

Follow your passion, learn new skills, and make friends for a lifetime

Whether you opt for one of our language options or our NEW Tech Creations camp, all our programs are carefully designed to optimize learning without skimping on the fun.

Academic Atmosphere

Courses are taught by a team of carefully selected, qualified, and enthusiastic teachers. Our small class sizes allow for more one-on-one attention, yet the groups are large enough to foster a healthy class spirit and encourage collaboration with one another. Field trips to local organizations are being planned to enhance classroom teachings.

Sports and Activities

When you aren’t in the classroom, there will be plenty of fun sports and activities to do with your new friends. Throughout the four weeks you’ll have the opportunity to participate in supervised team sports and activities in the evening. We offer soccer, tennis, softball, volleyball, squash, basketball, flag football, and ultimate frisbee. And our off-campus activities include swimming, canoeing, laser tag, and bowling.
On Saturday evenings and Mondays, there are planned activities such as dances, water slides, trips to amusement parks, and more. Inter-house competitions, known as 'BCS Games' take place on Sunday afternoons.

Boarding Life

Our boarding residences are known as houses. We have eight different houses located on our campus and students are housed two per room. Our Summer Camp team takes great care in selecting the roommate you’ll be paired with during the four weeks. You’ll also have the opportunity to meet new friends, as all three of our Summer Camp streams are divided into the different houses. Each house is equipped with a fully-stocked kitchen and common rooms—perfect for movie nights and hanging out with your friends!

The fees for our four-week programs cover instruction, board and accommodation for those boarding, teaching aids, as well as all trips and activities. The international fee covers medical insurance and transportation to and from the airport. You’ll also receive a camp t-shirt on the first day.
